US Geography (4-6)

*Curriculum Pack now includes both a print and digital Teacher Guide

In this 4th–6th grade social studies and geography curriculum, your student will build a strong foundation in US geography, states, and regions through a literature-based, hands-on approach.

At the heart of this course are carefully selected living books that engage students with diverse people and places, fostering sympathy, character development, and memorable experiences. The included books give your students the opportunity to travel with John Muir as he explores his adopted country, to live among the Hidatsa in the Dakotas, to build the Transcontinental Railroad with workers from China, and explore the wilderness with Daniel Boone.

Each weekly unit covers essential topics and geography terms and geography skills, from continents, rivers, and plains to biomes and other physical features. Students build basic geography skills, mapping skills, and a fluency with geographical terms.

Hands-on activities like regional recipes and map lessons using our beloved 18” x 24” maps reinforce learning through creativity and real-world experiences. This study also includes ideas for taking your homeschool out of the home, because we know learning happens everywhere.

With teacher guides and student books, this flexible curriculum works in both home or charter school, and co-op settings. Each lesson is designed to be adaptable, allowing families to tailor activities and pacing to meet the specific needs of their students.

By year’s end, students will have developed lasting connections to geography, building confidence and the necessary skills to explore the world independently.
