Discover the mysterious and fascinating ancient world with this engaging history curriculum designed for 5th-8th grade students. Travel back to the dawn of civilization in Mesopotamia and Sumer, through ancient Egypt, the rise of ancient Greece, the Roman Empire, and the birth of Christianity.

This ancient history curriculum is built around impactful and historically accurate literature, selected to foster memorable lessons and to nurture character. Students will explore the written word’s origins, the invention of the wheel, the construction of ziggurats and pyramids, the rise of democracy in Greece, and beyond. The literature allows your students to follow a boy as he tracks down tomb thieves in Egypt, travel with king Hezekiah, read the greatest stories from ancient Greece, and watch from the sidelines as Jesus teaches in ancient Judea.

Hands-on activities and vocabulary lists deepen understanding while comprehension questions and research topics keep students engaged.

Through stories, activities, online resources, and discussion, students will develop an appreciation for ancient civilizations while gaining a deeper understanding of how these societies shaped our world today. This curriculum is an academically strong, engaging way to explore the ancient world.
