Explore the ancient world from prehistory to AD 700 in this engaging history curriculum designed for 9th-10th grade students. This comprehensive ancient history course guides students through the civilizations that laid the foundation of the modern world, from Mesopotamia and ancient Egypt to ancient Greece, the Roman Empire, and the emergence of Christianity.
Built around historically rich books, this curriculum includes primary sources, critical analysis, and thought-provoking questions to inspire deep learning. Students will examine key developments such as the written word, early government, law, religion, architecture, and the enduring legacies of ancient people and cultures.
The stories allow students to live through a drought in ancient Mesopotamia, to wrestle with Elijah as he seeks to fulfill his calling as a prophet to Israel, battle with Achilles at Troy, and learn Indian mythology and ancient Chinese principles of warfare.
With hands-on activities, vocabulary, and structured discussions, students develop analytical and communication skills while making meaningful connections across time. Like all our studies, lessons are designed to be flexible, allowing families to tailor activities and pace to meet the needs of their students.
This course offers a challenging and rewarding academic experience, fulfilling 1 Ancient World History Credit and 1 Classical Literature Credit for high school.
